The Neighborhood Council met on Monday night to discuss and vote on two items: Permanent outdoor dining at the Sail Loft and increasing Bencotto's non-conforming 49 seat restaurant to 60 seats.
The Sail Loft is seeking permanent outdoor sidewalk dining and Bencotto wants to increase its capacity to 60 patrons.

On Saturday, January 21st, NEW Health will offer a vaccine clinic at their North End site for people of all ages. All vaccines and doses will be available to accommodate every patient’s needs. The clinic is open to everyone, not just patients of Mass General Brigham, except for patients 12 or younger. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are strongly encouraged. North End business owners Carla Gomes and Jorge Mendoza - along with two cops and a handful of others - saw their lawsuit against Boston's rule requiring proof of vaccination in indoor public places thrown out yesterday by US District Court Judge Angel Kelley. In her ruling, Judge Kelley explained that the plaintiffs didn't actually suffer any injuries:
North End Waterfront Health (NEW Health) announced today the recent addition of new clinical staff at the North End site: Dr. Suo Lee, Dr. Brandon Luk, Nurse Practitioner Madeleine Bayne, and Nurse Practitioner Heather Patrick.

The Residents Association will be hosting a public meeting on outdoor dining this Thursday from 6 - 8pm at the Nazzaro Center. NEWNC held its January meeting on Monday night. There was a single voting item on the agenda. The new owner of China House restaurant at 331 Hanover Street, Kakada Ly, wants to remove proviso on the permit which allowed restaurant use for prior operator only and to allow the new owner, Ly, to operate under the same permit. The council unanimously supported the proposal.
Peter Furth, Professor of Civil Engineering at Northeastern University, says he's cracked the code to fixing the congestion and unsafe conditions at Keany and City Squares: two short northbound green cycles at City Square instead of the current long one.
If that long green northbound period is replaced with two short green periods, each lasting 16 seconds, the number of vehicles that can be discharged per cycle will rise to 35 [from the current 28]
Starting Monday, the North Washington St bridge will switch to two northbound lanes during evening rush hour in contraflow pilot program.
