Gigi Coletta wins District 1 City Council to replace Lydia Edwards

Gigi Coletta beat out Tania Del Rio to win the District 1 City Council seat left vacant by Lydia Edwards when she resigned to be a full-time State Senator. Coletta had worked previously as a staffer for Edwards.

Good Taste Records opens its doors on Thacher Street

Add Vinyl Record Store to the list of locally owned, independent brick and mortar shops that now exist in the North End. Good Taste Records opened its doors at 4 Thacher Street this weekend. The intimate space features racks of curated vinyl ranging from hip-hop and funk to soul, electronic, jazz, and soundtracks for films and video games. There's even a listening room to sample sounds before you buy.

City Council candidate information session and Q&A - Monday April 18th, 5:30pm

The City of Boston will hold a Special Municipal Election to fill the City Council seat vacated by Lydia Edwards. There are two candidates for the seat: Tania Del Rio and Gabriela Coletta. The two will present information on themselves and their campaigns as well as answer questions from participants via a Zoom meeting on Monday, April 18th at 5:30 pm.

With a fresh coat of paint and absent its signature maroon awnings, the new owners and operators of the property have started to transform 266 Commercial Street - formerly occupied by the Four Winds. - into The Flamingo. The Four Winds was one of the North End's longest operating establishments, opening in 1963 and closing the fall of 2019.

Neighborhood Council annual election

The annual election for North End Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) will be held on May 14, 2022. There are currently 6 open seats available on the council. All North End residents 18 and older (City of Boston, Ward III, Precincts 1, 2, 3, or 4) interested in running for a seat on NEWNC are required to collect 40 signatures from North End residents over 18 years of age. The deadline for submitting signatures is May 2nd. Candidates may scan or take photos of their completed nomination papers and send by email to tanialeegreen@gmail.com.
