Nazzaro Community Center to Reopen May 16
The two month lead paint remediation project at BCYF Nazzaro Community Center in the North End is complete and the center is scheduled to reopen on Monday, May 16.
The lead removal project included scraping loose and flaking lead paint on ceilings and stabilizing areas, leaving areas ready for paint, and cleaning rooms by HEPA vacuuming and TSP wash. Lead removal work has been safely completed in the gym, second floor rooms and hallway, the staircase, and areas of the exterior.

Gigi Coletta wins District 1 City Council to replace Lydia Edwards
Gigi Coletta beat out Tania Del Rio to win the District 1 City Council seat left vacant by Lydia Edwards when she resigned to be a full-time State Senator. Coletta had worked previously as a staffer for Edwards.
Congrats to Coletta and Del Rio for a great campaign.

Good Taste Records opens its doors on Thacher Street
Add Vinyl Record Store to the list of locally owned, independent brick and mortar shops that now exist in the North End. Good Taste Records opened its doors at 4 Thacher Street this weekend. The intimate space features racks of curated vinyl ranging from hip-hop and funk to soul, electronic, jazz, and soundtracks for films and video games. There's even a listening room to sample sounds before you buy.
City Council candidate information session and Q&A - Monday April 18th, 5:30pm
The City of Boston will hold a Special Municipal Election to fill the City Council seat vacated by Lydia Edwards. There are two candidates for the seat: Tania Del Rio and Gabriela Coletta. The two will present information on themselves and their campaigns as well as answer questions from participants via a Zoom meeting on Monday, April 18th at 5:30 pm.
Losing more trees at Copp's Hill
An ominous red girdle appeared on one of Copp's Hill's American Elms overnight. Depending on which Parks Department employee you ask, it's either the result of vandalism or an indication that it will be removed. Either way, it's very sad.
