Big Day Boston - Downtown birding competition - returning to North End May 4th
Big Day Boston, the friendly downtown birding competition, is returning to Copp's Hill Terrace in Boston's North End, Saturday May 4th 2024.
Participants will compete to spot the most species of birds over a six hour period starting at 10am. All will receive a checklist to keep track of their sightings.

I'm not sure if the first images are Bova's? Or maybe Parzialle's or Boschetto’s? The metal facade on one of the photos makes me thing Bovas, but it doesn't exactly match what's there now.

The owners of Mood restaurant (Fatima and Mahmood Ibrahim - 115 Salem St) bowed to pressure from the Residents Association at a Tuesday night meeting and changed the closing time of their proposed Mediterranean takeout/dine-in place from 3am to midnight Thursday-Saturday. At the licensing hearing Wednesday, Mr Ibrahims explained that they were no longer seeking the 3am closing time after meeting with the Residents Association the night before.
NEW Health North End Honors Founder Elaine Wilson
On Thursday, March 21, NEW Health held a ceremony at its North End site to honor its founder and first CEO, Elaine Wilson. In 1971, Elaine and a small group of North End residents established the neighborhood’s first health center with the mission of delivering equitable, high-quality care to the community. Over the past 53 years, this mission has guided NEW Health’s growth in services, locations, and staff.

Strong support for Locale expansion at February NEWNC Meeting
The February 2024 Neighborhood Council meeting had a single voting item on it's agenda: The expansion of Locale Restaurant (352 Hanover) into the old Guy's Mens Salon (250 Hanover). Proprietor Gaetano Turco closed up late last year after 40 years.
