The RMR Group of Newton has submitted a Project Notification Form (PNF) for redeveloping the southwest corner of Causeway and North Washington streets which includes a 447 foot tower. The window for public comment on the proposal closes on Monday, October 28th.

The Eliot K8 Innovation school outperformed the State and City MCAS averages by a wide margin again in 2024. In fact, more students at the Eliot school meet or exceed expectations in Math and Reading than almost any other K8 school in the state.
Further, while scores at most districts in the state and schools in Boston lag far behind the benchmarks set in 2019, the Eliot school's tests show that students have largely made up for pandemic setbacks - or were never setback in the first place.
Eight years ago today, the Herald Published an article about neighborhood opposition to the proposed redevelopment of 60-70 Cross Street by Charter Realty. The president of the Neighborhood Council at the time explained that some residents didn't believe the design matched the historical nature of the neighborhood.
The last paragraph of the article gives a hint at the turmoil that came later - which ultimately saw the project cancelled .

Frank Depasquale and his representatives and architect presented a new reduced-height, two-story plan for 60-70 Cross Street at tonight's Residents Association meeting.
The new plan eliminates the third floor and the plan for the second floor from the designs proposed at the Neighborhood Council meeting Monday.
The Association voted 16-8 in support of the updated plans.
