Two "supports" and a deferral for North End projects from the September Neighborhood Council meeting
September's NEWNC meeting had three zoning-related voting items:
Support: 47-48 Snowhill
Proposal by owner to construct new 1-story vertical addition and roof deck on existing three-story building. Continued from prior hearing.Â
(Read: coverage from the May NEWNC meeting for this project)
The owners of 47-48 Snow Hill came back with altered plans based on feedback from the May NEWNC meeting. The same abutters from the May meeting spoke in opposition. Some - including the person who sold the unit and continues to live downstairs from the proposed project - spoke in favor. The Council voted to support.
Deferred: 128-134 North Street
Proposal to change occupancy of the to a single-family dwelling on a newly established 3,102 s.f. lot.
(Read: coverage from the previous abutters meeting for this project)
The owner of 128-134 North Street (Sal Lupoli and the Traffic Tunnel Administration Building respectively) attended this meeting, as did representatives from North Bennet Street School and the North End Music and Performing Arts center. It sounded like all three of them had been talking quite a bit and they all seemed pretty pleased with each other. Except maybe NBSS isn't quite there yet and they would like to see a formal construction management plan that ensures their piano tuners won't literally go deaf. The council voted to defer in order to give NBSS and Lupoli time to firm up their understandings.
Support: 22 Hanover Avenue
Renovation of a single-family townhouse, with new stair and headhouse and an additional two floors over the lower portion of the existing building.
There was no discussion after the smart presentation from the architect of 22 Hanover Ave. The council voted to support.

Councilmember Kevin Fleming invites us to attend a Love Your Block NEWNC North End Cleanup this Saturday, September 17th. It starts at 9 AM at the Gassy/DeFilippo, goes til 1, and you can show up any time. They'll have implements.
Finally, ONS Liason Ciara D’Amico let loose the news that Baystate Herbal Solutions is proposing a cannabis establishment at the old 7/11 on the bottom of Hanover. There will be a meeting on the 28th. Indeed - photos of the abutters meeting notification are circulating on Twitter.
