Small stretch of Hanover to get more boozy plus other North End licensing updates
Upgrades
Two North End restaurants were granted upgraded all alcohol licenses under the new program that allows holders of restricted alcohol licenses (for example, licenses that only allow the sale of beer and wine; or beer wine and cordials) to upgrade them to All-Alcoholic Beverages Licenses. Recipients of the upgraded licenses may NOT transfer the licenses though, which have fetched up to $.5 million on the open market recently.
Recipients of upgraded, restricted/non-transferrable licenses:
- Little Sage - 350-352 Hanover
Formerly Locale and, before that, Hanover News and Guy's Mens Salon - Pappare - 358-364 Hanover
Formally Dr. Nardone's medical practice
Departures
The North End was set to lose a liquor license as representatives from Dolce Fumo Restaurant Group petitioned to transfer the liquor license previously assigned to Rabia's at 71-73 Salem street to a new outfit downtown. However the board deferred the hearing pending the outcome of undisclosed ongoing litigation.
The board didn't specify what case they were waiting on the outcome of, but it stands to reason it has to do with an ongoing civil case in Suffolk Superior court in which Mohamad Hayek of East Boston is suing Jason Silvestri and Kim Fontaine (president and vice president of Dolce Fumo Restaurant Group) for nearly half a million dollars in what he says are unpaid loans.
Additions
A new CV license was granted to Dolvero, LLC for operation at the shuttered Taranta space at 210 Hanover.
