On the agenda

Presentations

  • Rodent Action Plan
The City of Boston will discuss its new plan to address rodents in Boston with a focus on the North End and Waterfront. Dion Irish, Chief of Operations and John Ulrich, Assistant Commissioner Environmental Services.

The City released its Rodent Action Plan back in June. The report didn't include an actual plan, goals, measurements, or what success would look like. Since the plan's release, the city announced that it would stop using rodenticides which have proven to be detrimental to other wildlife and that it would concentrate on using birth control measurements to reign in the population. But just this week the City communicated that it would not be going that direction because of mixed results in a pilot program.

Voting items

  • All-alcohol licenses
There are five restaurants that are applying to upgrade their existing CV licenses to include all alcohol: Antico Forno 93 Salem St, Terramia Ristorante 98 Salem St, Pappare Ristorante 358-364 Hanover Street, Il Panino 11 Parmenter Street, and Strega 379 Hanover Street.

The City is distributing 225 new liquor licenses across three categories. Most of these new licenses will be geographically limited and non-transferrable. But 12 new all-alcohol licenses are unrestricted and transferrable. These are the licenses that the above businesses are vying for. These licenses are worth up to $600,000 on the open market. The Neighborhood Council already voted to support Locale in seeking one of the new all-alcohol licenses at its September meeting.

  • Giacomo’s expansion

Giacomo’s Ristorante, 355 Hanover St has applied to the Licensing Board to expand existing restaurant of 58 seats on two floors into adjacent space at 351 Hanover Street, adding approx. 28 seats (formerly Pomodoro Restaurant). No change in the midnight licensed closing hour is being sought.

  • 60-70 Cross Street development

This is a continuation of the discussion on Depasquale Ventures proposal to develop the old Martignetti space and abutting building on Cross Street from the September meeting. Since the last meeting, the petetioner has reduced the height of the proposed structure from three to two stories.
