Community Center Construction PM: "We are very confident in opening for the 2028 season"

BCYF, Sasaki, and Turner Construction held a joint update meeting Monday night on the progress of the new North End Community Center. Key takeaways:

• The fall of 2027 completion date has been pushed back to summer 2028
• We are now in the final stages of the permitting phase which normally takes 12 - 14 weeks
• Project Manager Tom Kazmouski reports that they are "very confident" in hitting that date and that the pool will be open for the summer of 2028
• The harborwalk extension is still an add alternate and may not be included in the project
• The bike path along commercial street will be re-routed during construction but no specifics were given
• Several parking spaces will be taken up by equipment and staging during construction
• The crosswalk and traffic signal at Foster Street will be temporarily relocated to near slide park / Jackson Ave
