Strong support for Locale expansion at February NEWNC Meeting

The February 2024 Neighborhood Council meeting had a single voting item on it's agenda: The expansion of Locale Restaurant (352 Hanover) into the old Guy's Mens Salon (250 Hanover). Proprietor Gaetano Turco closed up late last year after 40 years.

The owner, several employees (including ONS liaison Ciara D'Amico who said she would recuse herself from coordinating the Abutters Meeting), and residents spoke in favor of the expansion - the Council voted unanimously in favor.

Locale plans to expand into the entire former salon - adding a bar, more seating, and an upgraded kitchen.

Dr. Jessica Dello Russo presented on plans for a bronze sculpture being installed at the steps of St Leonard's to honor the journey made by Italian Immigrants. See coverage at the Regional Review.

And North End resident Kristina Tagliente talked about her local business, Row Republic, as part of new new Small Business Spotlight series at the Council.

The March NEWNC meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 11th - 7pm at the Nazzaro.
